What SWANO can do for you

• Provide information about specific neurological conditions to assist commissioners and others in developing appropriate services for people with neurological conditions
• Act as a specialist resource
• Provide channels of communication between professionals, users of services and carers
• Share good practice from other health and social care organisations
• Help develop care pathways
• Facilitate partnership working between professionals and voluntary organisations

SWANO exists to provide basic information about the most common neurological conditions in the SouthWest, to give a brief overview of the needs of people affected by these conditions and to provide information about neurological charities working in the NHS South West area. The picture to the right is of a CSIP SW event at which SWANO launched its directory.

Across the NHS South West, there are estimated to be nearly one million people living with some type of neurological condition (appendix 1).
